Manley nets twice but the Eagles draw

Friday, November 28, 2008, 11:59

ELMORE Reserves were held to a 3-3 draw at Halwill — and it really was a match that could have gone either way.

The Eagles did not enjoy playing on the tight, narrow Halwill pitch and they also let slip a 2-0 and a 3-2 lead to a battling Halwill team.

Jason Manley scored twice and Kevin Mills got the other for the Eagles.

Cullompton Reserves won 2-0 against a Sidbury United side who were not best pleased that the Speeds Meadow team fielded a clutch of first-teamers.

Rangers secretary Marcus Scott described the inclusions as fringe players, but the outcome was a welcome win, which brings Cully from a minus points situation to one where they have something on the board.

Simon Madge and Matthew Scott shared the Cullompton goals and they played the second half against a 10-man Sidbury following a red card. Rangers are at fellow strugglers Broadclyst this saturday.

Bow AAC kicked off at East Budleigh unbeaten and having conceded just two league goals, but an hour and a half later they had crashed to a 6-0 defeat.

It was a sorry story for Bow who will lick their wounds before travelling to Seaton Town this weekend.

Senior 3 leaders Uplowman Athletic were held to a surprise 2-2 draw at Seaton Town Reserves who have yet to win a league match.

Ashley Perrott and Dominic Perrott scored for Uplowman, who are the only unbeaten team in this division.

Lapford lost their top-of-the-table clash at home to Tipton St John 1-0 and Kentisbeare were beaten 2-0 at South Zeal United.

Kentisbeare and Thorverton both lost their Senior 5 matches 3-1. The Thors put up a gallant effort against leaders Okehampton Reserves, while Kentisbeare had the lead against Axmouth before losing — and contributing to their downfall with an own goal.
