Seaborne may be ready to fly
The highly-rated Grecians youth product insists he has not closed the door on extending his stay at St James's Park and is adamant he has not held talks with any other clubs.
But Seaborne admits he is keen to play at the highest level possible and is excited at the prospect of bigger teams making bids for his services in the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old said: "I'm enjoying my time at City but there has been interest from other clubs and I want to wait and see what happens.
"I'm not saying I'm never going to sign with Exeter but, at the moment, my best option is to wait. If the club don't come back with a better offer then I will be looking to move.
"I have never been in the position I am now with the transfer window coming up and the fact I am out of contract in the summer. It's a good position to be in because Exeter want to keep me, but other clubs are having a look as well.
"It's not about the money with me, it's about playing at the best level I can. If a massive club came in (in January) that would interest me, but my first thoughts are with Exeter until my contract runs out or until a fee is agreed with another club."
Seaborne is not the only City player who could be leaving Exeter in January, as reports last night suggested Plymouth Argyle are lining up a move for Grecians playmaker Ryan Harley.
The free-kick specialist has been in excellent form recently and two goals in the last three games have apparently attracted the attention of Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock.
Seaborne was the subject of two bids from Coca-Cola League One rivals Norwich City earlier this season. But the pair of five-figure offers put on the table by the Canaries were turned down by the Grecians.
The first bid was labelled 'worse than derisory' by director of football Steve Perryman and manager Paul Tisdale dismissed the second as being nowhere near City's valuation of the player.
If Seaborne were to become available, then Norwich are likely return with a bid.
But Championship outfit Bristol City are also rumoured to be tracking the Barnstaple-born player.
Seaborne maintains he is in the dark over which clubs are interested in signing him. And he remains hopeful the Grecians will come back to him with an improved contract offer in the coming weeks.
"I don't know if any other clubs have come in for me, you will have to ask Exeter," Seaborne said.
"I don't want to know who has come in unless there is cash on the table and a fee has been agreed.
"That's not me saying I want to leave Exeter. They have made me a good offer but it was not right for me at the moment.
"I'm not just waiting to see what comes in, it's about getting the best offer I can from City, weighing it up and seeing what happens.
"I hope they come back with another offer. I have got a good relationship with the manager and Steve Perryman and I would like to sit down with them and discuss it further."
