More trains to run Sundays
THE Avocet Line between Exeter and Exmouth is set to see extra trains on Sundays during the run-up to Christmas.
Train operator First Great Western has announced a six-week trial period with trains running every half hour on Sundays, 10am and 6pm, instead of the usual hourly service.
The announcement comes just days after the line was designated a Community Railway, giving passengers a bigger say in how services are run.
Tony Day, of The Avocet Line Rail Users Group, said: "This will be a great help in the period running up to Christmas, when many people are travelling to visit relatives, taking a winter break or coming home for the holidays. The extra trains running through to St David's will make connections with the main line much easier – as well as benefiting Christmas shoppers travelling into Exeter."
