One-way street is causing congestion

I THINK Exeter Paris Street should be returned to two-way because it does cause congestion and this affects trade.

The problem is that the park and ride buses that park on the left are there all the time, because as one leaves, the next one is behind waiting to park up.

So, if there are vehicles turning right at the traffic lights, the traffic wanting to go straight on can't, so then we have a blockage.

I don't care whether John Lewis comes to Exeter or not.

I don't share the county council's view that Exeter would be better with John Lewis,

I am more than happy with the shops and what the traders supply, and I think it's very unfair to backhandedly criticise the traders in the city as being somehow inferior to John Lewis.

“OH MY GOD ARROGANT BUS DRIVERS YES, DELIBERATELY BLOCKING THE ROAD WHILST TRYING TO DO THEIR JOB! GET A GRIP SANDY AND APPRECIATE THAT PERHAPS WHEN YOU DRIVE A LARGE VEHICLE YOU MAY NEED TO TAKE UP A LITTLE MORE ROOM THAN YOU IN YOUR MINI OR WHATEVER IT IS YOU DRIVE!”

“The problems are caused by arrogant bus drivers pulling out of the bus stops on the left in Paris Street and blocking the lane for forward traffic as they try to turn right to travel up Sidwell Street. I have seen this happen twice this week and the traffic is then congested back to the roundabout at Paris Street. The whole system seems to be backward. The buses should not be able to pull out and immediately turn right as this is what causes the jam!!!”

“Unless most of the current councillors are kicked out soon, you have no chance of having the road widened (the only thing that gets widened in Exeter are pavements, buslanes and cyclelanes!), no matter what the pollution caused by doing so. John Lewis is on record as stating they don't want two way traffic, and so is the City Centre Manager. Any consultation of the public, the bus/coach users or the car drivers stuck in queues is about as relevant as the sham consultation on post office closures. Land securities/John Lewis and the City Centre Manager will get their way!”

“Surely that could be remedied by a simple lane widening, then ?”
