A DRAGON, a stag and trolls are among the creatures you may have seen if you've taken a stroll around the gardens at Knightshayes recently.

There is no need to be alarmed though, as imposing as the creatures look from a distance, they have remained stationary throughout their summer at the estate.

The dozen animals are the creations of two local sculptors Woody Fox, who lives between Rackenford and Witheridge, and Joolz Doncaster, from Wicked Willow at Cove Nursery, and have been hidden among the estate's lush grounds to give visitors surprises at every turn.

Woody said there had been a great response from people to the wooden sculptures, with the National Trust making a trail guide available for those who wanted to see every installation.

Woody said some of the simpler sculptures such as a fox had taken a week to create, while other more complex ones such as a stag with antlers could take twice as long.
