Will wraps up order of merit title
WILL Blundell wrapped up the Order of Merit title with victory in the latest stableford event with an excellent 38-point total.
The four-handicapper played a superb round in difficult, windy conditions to finish three points ahead of John Locke.
Stableford Competition: 1 W Blundell 37pts, 2 J Locke 35, 3 A Pryke 29, 4 K Radbourne 29, 5 T Evans 29.
Don Hellings took the honours in the Seniors' Stableford event.
His excellent score of 40 saw him finish two points clear of Roy Lyndhurst, with David Dixon third on countback.
Seniors' stableford: 1 D Hellings 40pts, 2 R Lyndhurst 38, 3 D Dixon 37, 4 R Bell 37, 5 R Hallett 36, 6 T Newall 15, 7 T Westcott 35, 8 J Butt 35.
Defending champions Martin Johns and Ray Cavill have been handed a tough first-round tie in the Winter Foursomes.
They will have to concede shots when they face Will and Bill Blundell.
Mark Freemantle and Phil Yolland, who enjoyed an excellent run in the Daily Mail national event, will play James Ollerhead and Charlie Durnan.
